DBE Supportive Services

Tyler Construction Engineers, P.C. (Tyler) are the program managers of the statewide DBE Supportive Services for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program (DBE) was developed by the Federal Highway Administration and is administered by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Civil Rights Office (CRO). The Small Business Development Office is committed to encouraging minority, female and other disadvantaged, and small business firms certified by TDOT to work in the highway/bridge industry.

Small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Supportive Services (DBE-SS) Program:

The DBE Supportive Services (DBE-SS) Program provides assistance to the Small Business Development Program. The DBE-SS Program is a valuable and necessary tool to ensure the improved growth of firms owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in the State of Tennessee engaged in or interested in performing highway-related work that are TDOTcertified as DBEs.

The DBE-SS Program provides training and business assistance services to TDOT-certified DBEs. The benefit of DBEs participating in the activities of this program can help facilitate their development into viable, self-sufficient organizations capable of competing for, and performing on Federallyassisted highway projects.

Tennessee Department of Transportation Civil Rights Office contracted with Tyler Construction Engineers, P.C. to administer the DBE-SS Program. They provide educational, technical and business assistance, and timely information regarding contracting and/or subcontracting opportunities to assist certified DBEs.

The DBE-SS Program has instituted the following objectives:

·Provide DBEs with training and instruction for the development of construction and business management knowledge.

·Provide DBEs with consultation for the enhancement of business management skills through classroom instruction and individual one-on-one counseling.

Funding for the program is provided by the Federal Highway Administration and administered by TDOT, enabling all services to be provided at NO COST to qualifying TDOTDBE firms.
